In 1988, the summer after I graduated from college, I met a man building
an addition to his house. I remember talking with him about each part of
the building process, from the foundation to the smallest details and
finishing touches. What impressed me was that he had envisioned an idea,
and was capable of realizing it with his own hands.
Meeting him helped me identify my desire to pursue the craft of woodworking.
I gradually refined my interest from general construction, to building post
and beam timberframe homes, and eventually to designing and building custom
furniture.
I have been designing and building custom furniture in Oakland, California,
since 1992.
