I built this bed frame when I had an open block of time between jobs using woods I had collected at various times for their intrinsic beauty. I built it tall so I could store things underneath-- and because I had been sleeping on a futon close to the floor for way too long. The redwood for the head board was purchased roadside somewhere in Mendocino, California). The eucalyptus foot board was felled from someone's property in Martinez, California. The Port Orford cedar posts and rails were recycled lumber from a paper mill that was torn down in Eugene, Oregon.
