This was the first dining table I made. The inspiration for its design came directly from a Japanese-American woodworker named George Nakashima. His book, The Soul of the Tree, was one of my first inspirations to pursue woodworking. The plank for the table top (and later the chairs) came from one solid piece that was 12 feet long by 44 inches wide.
