Fort Anniversary Bed Frame

Photographs by Ira Schrank and Bruce Fort

This bed frame was a surprise tenth wedding anniversary present from Bruce to his wife, Ann Fort. Bruce and I were planning the design and construction for about a year and even managed to have Ann unknowingly pick out the woods she liked on a visit to the Bay Area. We brought her to Ecotimber to show her where I purchase much of my wood and we surreptitiously made note of the woods she liked best.

This is a frame and panel bed frame. The frame is made of cherry and the panels are solid Swiss pear wood with a granadillo border to visually separate the woods.

A pair of matching bedside tables were made after, to complement the style of the bed frame.

This bed frame appeared in the January/February 1999 issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine.
